2023: I’m mentoring female Malagasy anthropology students at Antananarivo University in primatology and lemur conservation. Recently, I've been training Safidy in fieldwork, concentrating on collecting behavioral and ecological data on lemurs. Additionally, I taught her about proper lab methods for lemur parasitology, including intestinal parasite identification. I'm also sharing my research, data, and samples to aid her master's project. Recently, I mentored another female master's student from the University of Antananarivo in conservation research at the Marotandrano Special Reserve. I guided her in human-primate interaction methods during fieldwork and data analysis, under the supervision of Dr. Freddy Ranaivoarisoa and Dr. Sylviane Volampeno, their principal investigator in Biological Anthropology.
2022: I had the privilege of speaking to undergraduate and graduate students at my department of origin, Anthropobiology, and Sustainable Development at the University of Antananarivo, about pursuing higher education and shared several opportunities for them to consider as they advance in their academic careers. I hoped to motivate them to pursue their academic goals and explore various educational opportunities to build their careers. Through my involvement in academic outreach, I hope to contribute to the development of the next generation of researchers and conservationists by sharing my knowledge, experience, and expertise.
2024: we organized an event to encourage 207 Malagasy middle and high school girls in Antsirabe to pursue education and careers in STEM. This workshop serves as a dynamic platform to bridge the information gap in STEM education, offering valuable insights into the exciting opportunities available both domestically and internationally. Education and job opportunities were shared through booklets and posters. Emphasizing the importance of self-belief and aspirations, the event fosters a mindset shift towards embracing STEM education and career paths. Through mentorship, showcasing successful role models, and providing hands-on experiences, we aim to inspire and guide participants toward successful STEM careers.
